Summer Schedule

During the months of July and August, the church will be following a summer schedule.  Worship will begin at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings; Food and Fellowship, Sunday School, HOA and Men's Association will be suspended.  The schedule for Special Summer Activities is shown below.

Blessing of the Animals

On June 17 at 10:00 am, we welcome all who have pets to bring them to the lawn of First Presbyterian for the second annual Blessing of the Animals.  Rev. Sue will be passing among the animals with a greeting and blessing for each and every one.

Vacation Bible School

The week of July 16 to 21 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm, we will hold our eagerly anticipated Vacation Bible School for children from kindergarten to 6th grade.  This year's theme is Hero Central, Discover Your Strength in God, and will be studied with music, bible study, science, recreation, and crafts.

Peach Festival

Saturday, August 5 from 11:00 am to 3 pm we will hold our annual Peach Festival and Auto Show.  Food, including peach shortcake, will be available, as will entertainment from the Good New Blues and a bouncy house for children.  The auto show is always a joy to wander through as well.

Flea Market

The annual Labor Day weekend Flea Market will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, September 1 and 2 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  As always, an amazing array of non-clothing items will be on display both outside and inside the church.  Come and see what bargains are available for perusal and purchase.  This event is the major source of funding for our Men's and Women's Associations.

Church Picnic

The concluding event for the summer is our combination Picnic and Worship in the Park at the Activity Center in Cedar Creek Park on Sunday, September 10 starting at 10:45 am.  We will start with worship, including Communion, and follow with a covered dish picnic.  Meat and drinks are provided by the Men's Association.  This is a wonderful way to restart the church year after a summer of reduced activity.  All are welcome to join us.

Food Bank awarded Outstanding Agency Award for 2016

During its annual Partnership Luncheon in September, the Westmoreland County Food Bank announced that the Rostraver Food Bank received its Outstanding Agency Award for 2016.  This agency is sponsored by the Belle Vernon Area Ministerium (First Presbyterian is an active member) and its coordinator, Richard Currie, is a member of our congregation.  The WCFB particularly remarked about the table-centered distribution and the large number of volunteers who work each month during this activity.  In accepting the award, Currie made note of the size of the volunteer work force and the unflinching monetary support provided by the Ministerium as the main reasons for the Food Bank's success.
